【明報專訊】The Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong SAR is an organ of the Central People's Government of the People's Republic of China. It came into being upon the handover of Hong Kong. It acts as a bridge between the SAR and the mainland. Its predecessor (前身) was the Hong Kong Branch of the New China News Agency (新華通訊社香港分社).

The Liaison Office:

◆ liaises with mainland-owned companies in Hong Kong, and do what may facilitate economic, cultural, educational, technological and sporting cooperation and exchanges between Hong Kong and the mainland

◆ deals with any other issues at the Central People's Government's instruction
