【明報專訊】Leonardo, born on 11 November 1974, in Los Angeles, the US, is an American actor and producer. He emerged in the 1990s as one of Hollywood's leading performers, noted for his portrayals of unconventional and complex characters.
DiCaprio's parents divorced when he was a baby. The couple remained friends and shared in his upbringing, which is probably best described as "bohemian" (放蕩不羈).
The young DiCaprio was encouraged to embrace his creative side and, by the age of five, he had already landed his first TV role on a popular children's show.
In 1996, DiCaprio starred in Baz Luhrmann's adaptation (改編) of Romeo + Juliet. The movie was a huge hit among the MTV generation and succeeded in bringing Shakespeare to the masses once more.
However, no matter how successful Romeo + Juliet may have been, it was to be eclipsed (被遮蔽) in 1997 by the film of the year- Titanic (《鐵達尼號》). The £100-million epic picked up eleven Oscars.
He has received multiple awards, including a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor for his performance in The Aviator (《娛樂大亨》, 2004).
