【明報專訊】There has recently been much discussion about antagonism (敵意) towards big business. Critics say rich businesspeople have little sympathy for the poor and are responsible for the widening wealth gap.
This month chairman of the Federation of Hong Kong Industries Cliff Sun (工業總會主席孫啟烈) said in an article it was to encourage people to reap without sowing to stage a social movement to force fast food chain Café de Coral to withdraw its decision to cut its employees' paid lunch breaks. He urged society to drop its animosity towards big business.
A month ago, Chief Secretary for Administration Henry Tang (政務司長唐英年) commented that he believed few Hong Kong people were hostile towards big business, adding that people were only unhappy about some companies' ways of doing business.
