【明報專訊】While the 14th anniversary of Hong Kong's handover was drawing near, Shenzhen (深圳), China's first special economic zone (SEZ), celebrated the 30th anniversary of its foundation. In the morning of 6 September 2010, the central government declared at a celebratory ceremony it would always support Shenzhen's "brave explorations".
Like Hong Kong in the old days, Shenzhen was once a small fishing village. It is now a cosmopolitan city boasting a stock exchange. Many Hong Kong businesses have set up factories there to take advantage of lower costs, and many Hong Kong citizens have found work there. President Hu Jintao (國家主席胡錦濤) commented that Shenzhen had been a miracle of industrialisation, urbanisation and modernisation.
