【明報專訊】A collection of photos featuring an "invisible man" has recently appeared on the Internet.

Shandong artist Liu Bolin (劉勃麟) may be invisible anywhere. A graduate of the Sculpture Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, the 36-year-old artist has travelled round the world, covering his body with colours and merging himself with the background. He wants to show how the urban environment affects people's ways of living.

It takes much time to complete such a photo. It may take as much as ten hours. Nevertheless, Liu's skilful disguise has won him attention and praise. People have started calling him the Invisible Man. Liu has pointed out it is not attention that he wants.

Liu, who has been without a job since his graduation, feels he does not have room to survive in the society. He has said he, having no social connections, has experienced the dark side of it. His studio in Beijing was mandatorily demolished in 2006. That has made him even more determined to stand up to society. His collection called Hiding in the City (《藏於城中》) is meant to be a silent protest about the difficulties Chinese artists have encountered.
