【明報專訊】Most Hong Kong visitors to the Shanghai Expo long to look at the animated Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival (《清明上河圖》) in the China Pavilion. Also called The River of Wisdom, the animated artwork arrives in Hong Kong in November. It will be on display from November 9 to November 29 in AsiaWorld-Expo, the Hong Kong International Airport.
The River of Wisdom, 120 metres wide and 6 metres tall, has been in the spotlight at the Shanghai Expo. The characters in the Song (宋朝) painting are made "alive" with animation technology. Visitors would find themselves strolling by the riverside when viewing the overwhelming masterpiece.
However, Yu Zheng (于正), who designed The River of Wisdom, has said the version to be shown in Hong Kong is different from that shown in Shanghai. In the China Pavilion, an angled screen with more straight lines is used, but a curved one will be used at AsiaWorld-Expo. Interviewed in Shanghai, Yu said he felt he was very much obligated to introduce traditional Chinese culture to youngsters. Knowing many students would attend the exhibition in Hong Kong, he said they should get acquainted (了解) with the background of the artwork in advance, adding, "That will surely benefit them more."
